About
Department Distributed Information and Control Systems
The Distributed Information and Control Systems Department (DICS) at the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (IICT) specializes in mechatronic systems; medical robotics; modeling and optimization of operating modes in distributed information and control systems; synthesis of control algorithms in complex, distributed, hierarchical systems; management of transport, information, communication, financial systems and sites; topological and functional synthesis of information and communication systems; making decisions in case of incomplete information; innovative high-speed and high-temperature processes, micro and nano elements, as well as industrial applications.
In 2015, within the AComIn project, the team received expertise in 3D design, 3D modeling and 3D prototyping. Researchers from DICS (together with the group of Prof. Virginio Cantoni from the University of Pavia, Italy) created 3D figures of historical characters and 3D tactile plates for the visually impaired people for the exhibition "Pavia. The Battle. The Future - 1525-2015, Nothing was the same again", organized as a satellite event of EXPO-2015 in Milan, Italy. Also, for the Brera Gallery in Milan, Italy, a tactile tile was created for the painting "Christ and the Samaritan Woman at the Well" again for the visually impaired people.
In September 2019, the team take participation with 3D modeling, processing and 3D printing of selected paintings for people with visual impairments in an exhibition for the 140th anniversary of the announcement in Sofia as the capital - "Words, images, places", located in Sofia City Art gallery (SCAG). The exhibition was organized by the Sofia City Art Gallery, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sofia Municipality, Aurubis, Unika, BTA, BNT and BNR.
The team also has experience in the reconstruction of the 3D internal structure of industrial parts, building elements, dentistry and more.
